Tour our Capital City - Valletta

Malta’s capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site, a visit to Valletta is a must! A fully walled city, Valletta boasts of numerous Palaces, Churches, amongst which the Cathedral of St John, which houses the famous painting by Michelangelo Merisi, more universally known as Caravaggio. Restaurants, open air cafes and beautiful public gardens with stunning views over the Grand Harbour would definitely require more than one day to enjoy and explore! Valletta was designed and built by the Knights of St John immediately after the Turkish siege of 1565. Getting there is very easy – virtually all buses from across the main road opposite the hotel go to Valletta.

Our Old Capital – Mdina

Situated on top of a hill, the old capital of Malta commands majestic views over half of Malta. Tracing its origins to pre-Roman times, Mdina, also known as the silent city, takes one back effortlessly in time! In the evening, Mdina is absolutely magical, with soft lighting systems and the beautiful buildings and churches in its quaint streets! Buses from the central interchange in Valletta to Rabat, Mdina’s suburb, take you there.

Visit the beautiful Gozo

Malta’s sister island, Gozo, is a history buff’s paradise, and is definitely worth a day’s visit at least! Virtually every site in Gozo is either of historical importance or else is linked to folklore and legend. Perhaps one of the most talked about historical locations in Gozo is the world renowned Ġgantija Temple, which is located in the quaint town of Xagħra. This temple complex, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is made up of two monumental structures dating back to somewhere between 3600 and 3200 BC, making Ġgantija one of the oldest free-standing structures in the world. To put this into perspective, Ġgantija was built before Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids!

Getting there

Take Bus no 222 from the bus stop just up the road from the hotel to Cirkewwa (approx.. 45 mins ride). Ferry services vary, but during peak hours, there is a services every 45 mins. During Public Holidays or particularly busy periods, ferries operate on a shuttle service basis. Further details from reception. One can also use this same bus service to take a ferry to Comino – the island located between Malta and Gozo. There are ferry services from Cirkewwa or from Mgarr Harbour in Gozo. The trip is 15 minutes long and takes one over to the renowned Blue Lagoon. Upon entering the Lagoon, one is immediately dazzled by the shimmering turquoise waters, which are amongst the clearest and bluest that one will ever see around the world.
